Nice Things To Do
If this is your first visit to the Peak District we think you will be amazed by the number of things you can do and places you can visit. We are very well placed almost halfway between Bakewell and Buxton.
If walking and cycling are your thing you can stay local to Millers Dale and its environs or venture south to the beautiful limestone valleys of Dovedale (with its famous stepping stones) and Lathkil Dale, which characterise the park’s White Peak area. The scenic villages of Tissington and Ilam are definitely worth visiting.
To the north is the Dark Peak area with its dramatic gritstone ridges and moorland plateaus like Kinder Scout. The village of Edale marks one end of the iconic Pennine Way footpath.
One of the most visited attractions, where a whole day can be enjoyed is nearby Chatsworth House. With its acres of parkland, award winning gardens, lovely estate villages and a series of interesting events scheduled throughout the year.
Romantic Haddon Hall is definitely one we would recommend. This beautiful 11th century house on the banks of the River Wye near Bakewell has been described as ‘the most perfect and interesting house of its period.’
